Kids Ministry at Shawnee Naz

Children are an important part of Shawnee Naz. That's why we provide a wide range of spiritual growth activities, learning opportunities and friendship-building events. All volunteers are background checked and trained to care for the young worshippers of Shawnee Naz. Below is an overview of a few of the regularly scheduled activities.

When we're not worshipping intergenerationally (during Family Worship), we are worshipping in the Nursery (Birth-3yrs), the Cul-de-sac (3yrs-PreK), and in the Neighborhood (K-5th Grade).

Nursery

Ages 0 - 36 Months

We understand that parents have varying comfort levels for dropping off babies in a nursery setting. We welcome each family to do what feels best for them and their little ones. In our nursery rooms, trained caregivers provide quality care for and interaction with each child.

Cul-De-Sac

Cul-De-Sac

Kids Ages 3 - Pre-K

Our preschool-aged kids begin Sunday worship with their families; they are dismissed from the sanctuary to the Cul-de-Sac where they continue in worship and learning through movement, stories, play, games, and art. Experienced teachers and volunteers provide loving interactions as we help parents build a foundation of Bible truths.

Our Cul-de-sac kids dismiss during service and stay together through Small Groups

The Neighborhood

The Neighborhood

K - 5th Grade

During our Sunday morning gatherings, students begin worship with their families in the sanctuary; kids are then sent to continue worship in “The Neighborhood”. During this time, students learn and grow through developmentally engaging sermons, games, and fellowship. Our students in The Neighborhood participate in the Eucharist each week. On the last Sunday of every month, the kids stay with the congregation to participate in Family Worship, where all ages worship and learn together intergenerationally.

Small Groups - Kids

Small Groups - Kids

Immediately Following Worship

Age level small groups are offered for all children birth to 6th grade. Each group is guided by a teaching team, following a scripturally based curriculum. The purpose of these small groups is to help children grow in community with each other, develop a biblical overview, and apply Jesus's teachings in their daily lives.

Mid-Week (Kids)

Mid-Week (Kids)

Wednesday Evenings 6:30-8:00 p.m.

On Wednesday Nights, children in grades K-5 have the opportunity to deepen their faith through Bible Quizzing, Workshops, and "Road Trips", journeying through important topics.

Preteen

Preteen

4th - 5th Grade

Being a preteen means you’re growing up! Growing up brings with it exciting opportunities for fun and moments to grow in maturity and leadership.

Preteens can enjoy participating in retreats and camps offered by the KC District throughout the year. They also get the chance to join preteen-specific events and fun activities at various points.

In addition to this, all preteens are invited to apply and participate in Lead Team, a 4th and 5th grade-only opportunity to receive leadership training and assist in leadership roles in Children’s Ministry. Lead Team is designed to both challenge and encourage these preteens to participate directly in ministry. With these added responsibilities comes the benefits of monthly meals together, special Lead Team events, and lots of fun!
