Children are an important part of Shawnee Church of the Nazarene that's why we provide a wide range of spiritual growth activities, learning opportunities and friendship-building events. All volunteers are background checked and trained to care for the young worshippers of Shanwee. Below is an overview of a few of the regularly scheduled activities.
Sunday Children's Worship, ages Kindergarten - 6th grade
Children are dismissed to "The Neighborhood" from the sanctuary. This is a time where children learn and grow in the knowledge and love of God through messages, puppets, and hands on learning. One Sunday each month kids remain in the main sanctuary for Family Worship, where together we experience growth intergenerationally!
Sunday Worship for Early Childhood, ages 2 - pre-K
Children will experience learning the Bible through stories, songs, games, puppets, prayer and art. Cul-de-Sac meets every week, even when the older children are invited to stay in the sanctuary for Family Worship.
We offer childcare for infants and toddlers birth through 2 years of age during Sunday School, Sunday Worship, Wednesday Activities and most special events. Trained caregivers provide quality care for and interaction with each child. Check in at one of our check-in stations (found both upstairs and downstairs).
Wednesday Nights at "The Village"
Throughout the school year our mid-week children's activities are an exciting time of relationship building and life skill training.
"The Village" kicks off with all preschool and elementary students combined in 2-umpteen (room 216/219) for fun! Elementary students are then dismissed to 3 week elective life skill classes of their own choosing. Every 4th week all students gather for "Bible Divers" - diving into the Word of God! Our 2-4 year olds participate in EC Street, where they rotate through activities, learning Bible truths in a variety of hands-on activities!
Age level classes are offered for all children birth to 6th grade. Each class is guided by a classroom teaching team following a scripturally based curriculum. Our hope is to help children develop a biblical worldview, as well as applying Jesus's teachings in our daily life. Sunday School classes begin at 11:15am, immediately following worship service.
