Greetings and Welcome to Shawnee Church of the Nazarene.
We are located in the heart of Shawnee and we are passionate about loving God with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength and loving our neighbors as ourselves. (verse) We also desire to follow Christ’s command for us to make christlike disciples in the nations. We are a community that has a deep desire to serve one another and our community around us. We believe in the importance of including all generations in intentional worship, service, prayer, and fellowship.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What should I wear?
We want you to feel comfortable when you visit Shawnee Church of the Nazarene. You will see people wearing a variety of clothing from a suit and tie to jeans and a t-shirt so dress in the clothes in which you are most comfortable.
Should I keep my children with me during the service?
As a visitor, it is up to you if you feel comfortable introducing your child into a new setting. Wiggles from children in the sanctuary are certainly not frowned upon! Nursery is provided for babies through 24 months; worship for our preschool aged children - "The Cul-de-Sac" - is also available every Sunday. A greeter can assist you in finding the check-in desk for your precious little ones. Children 2 years old- PreK will be dismissed to “the Cul-de-Sac” from the service in the sanctuary.
Children Kindergarten through the 6th grade are dismissed to children's church - "The Neighborhood" - from the service in the sanctuary. Our loving "Neighborhood" staff will be sure to help your child feel welcome in a new environment. Once a month we enjoy "Family Worship", which simply means elementary children will remain in the sanctuary to worship alongside their family. We believe there is value in creating space where folks of all ages learn together!
What should I expect?
During the service feel free to sit wherever you are comfortable.
Words to choruses and hymns are projected onto a big screen at the front of the sanctuary. There may be a brief time to greet those seated near you.
A collection is received during each service to support the work of the church and mission projects. We do not ask that visitors contribute. This offering is for those who regularly attend to support our church.
We partake in communion each week. You do not need to be a member to participate. It is offered to all who are seeking to personally know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. The entire congregation is given instructions on how to receive communion during the service. Please feel free to receive communion with us at your own comfort level.
Any of our pastors would love to have the opportunity to introduce themselves, pray with you or even hear your thoughts on your visit to our church. If you aren't able to meet a pastor upon your visit at Shawnee, please don't hesitate to contact one of them by a phone call to the church, or an e-mail.
